Zara size guide: how to choose a size for the item you want

Use Zara's product measurement guide and Find your size tool, then check fit, fabric and missing measurements before ordering.

THE QUICK ANSWER

Start on the exact Zara product page. Use its measurement guide and available size-finding tool, then check the item's cut and fabric. Zara's own guidance says sizing can vary with the garment's style, cut and material.

Use the product page's sizing information

Zara's US help page describes two options: a measurement guide and Find your size. Its guide explains which body measurements a selected size is intended for; the size-finding option uses information you provide and your fit preference. Availability and presentation may depend on the item and market.

Save the relevant chart with its labels visible. A range intended for your body is not a measurement of the shirt or trousers themselves. If you need a finished garment dimension that is not shown, use the retailer's support options.

Make a checklist for this item

  1. Confirm the collection and department of the product you are actually ordering.
  2. Read the fit description and inspect the shoulder, waist and leg shape in the product images.
  3. Compare the relevant body measurements with the product guide, following its instructions.
  4. For a garment-to-garment comparison, obtain actual item measurements and use a similar piece from your wardrobe.
  5. Check fabric composition, care instructions and the return conditions for your market.

For example: relaxed trousers versus tailored trousers

Two trousers can share a size label while sitting at different heights on the waist and allowing different room through the hips and legs. Before choosing, note where each waistband is meant to sit. A natural-waist body measurement and a low-rise waistband measurement answer different questions.

If you like the room in trousers you own, compare their waist width, rise, hips and inseam with equivalent measurements for the new pair. If Zara only provides a body chart, use it as a body chart and keep your garment notes separate. Do not calculate a supposed fit allowance from those two different sources.

Common questions

Does Zara always run small?

This guide does not establish a brand-wide fit tendency. Use the exact item's chart and fit notes; Zara explicitly describes variation by style, cut and fabric.

Is FitPreview Zara's official size finder?

No. FitPreview is an independent service and is not affiliated with Zara. The official sizing tools are available through Zara's product pages.
